On October 16, 2015, Abel Design Group, Ltd. announced that it has entered an agreement to acquire the prestigious architecture firm of Ken R. Harry Associates (KRHA). Upon completion of the acquisition, Ken R. Harry and his team will transition to the offices of Abel Design Group (ADG), where they will continue to serve existing and new clients as part of the Ken R. Harry Studio.
Over the past decade, ADG has become a significant force in the architecture and interior design industry, with average annual growth of 40% over the past five years. The addition of Ken Harry as the firm’s fifth principal will enable ADG to further extend its role in the industry, expanding and diversifying its client base.
“Ken and I have known each other for years, and I have always respected and admired his work,” remarked Jeffrey Abel, founder and managing principal of ADG. “While our design aesthetic varies, we share the same goals of providing premier service to our clients, and addressing their needs with skillful design solutions. Ken has an enormous depth of knowledge in both business and design, after running his own firm for 43 years. Combining this with the immense talent of our existing design principals, Dare Lovett and Simona Furini, bolsters our ability to serve our clients, especially those in the law and energy sectors.”
“When one thinks of up-and-coming Architectural and Design Firms, the list is very small. I greatly admire the entrepreneurial spirit of ADG and the way it has become a diversified and sizable force in the marketplace. My goal is to help ADG become the premier Architectural and Design Firm in the South,” stated Ken Harry, owner of Ken R. Harry Associates. “More and more of my law firm clients are departing from traditional design, and are seeking a more contemporary aesthetic. It has been exciting to make this transition with them, building on my knowledge base of traditional design and detailing, and transforming their offices into more modern spaces. ADG excels in contemporary design, and I admire their ability to create spaces that are both distinctive and sophisticated. I look forward to joining forces and providing unsurpassed service and design for our clients.”
ADG, which has 35 employees, is located in Houston, Texas, and delivers impactful and worry-free design solutions to clients both nationally and internationally. Specializing in architecture and interior design, its practice areas include corporate, hospitality, restaurants, and retail. ADG was recently selected for the third consecutive year for the Houston Business Journal’s Fast 100 list, and was also selected as one of the Best Places to Work in the Houston Business Journal’s annual competition.
