ARCHITECTURAL INTERN

Abel Design Group is seeking an Architectural Intern to join its Houston office.  The ideal candidate will excel in innovative design solutions, be committed to design excellence, and exercise independent judgement in evaluation, selection, and use of techniques.  The candidate must possess excellent communication and organizational skills, and strong attention to detail.

This position will focus on Architecture. 

 Responsibilities:

  • Work under Project Architect to produce excellent set of construction documents
  • Ensure technical resolution and coordination of design intent
  • Confirm that construction detail documentation conforms to quality assurance and best practices standards
  • Provide technical support and project communication
  • Work with consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies to meet project objectives
  • Conduct code analyses
  • Conduct on-site observations and prepare Architect’s field reports, as needed
  • Review submittals during construction, and maintain RFI and submittal logs
  • Coordinate multiple projects concurrently
  • Support project team with various administrative duties and project correspondence

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture
  • Proficiency in Revit required
  • Additional software used in the position may include AutoCAD, Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp, and 3-D Studio MAX
  • Experience in construction document preparation
  • Knowledge of building materials, specifications, construction, and building codes, including ADA
  • Sufficient knowledge of engineering disciplines to coordinate their work
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Flexibility to focus on multiple projects at the same time

SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER

This position will focus on Corporate Interiors and Hospitality.

Responsibilities:

  • Guide team in establishing project concept and aesthetics

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MANAGER

Abel Design Group, a growing design and architectural firm, is seeking an Information Technology Manager to join its Houston office.  The ideal candidate will be accountable for proposing, implementing, and managing IT solutions to help grow and/or improve our business.  The candidate must possess excellent communication and organizational skills, the ability to work independently, and a strong project management background.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage all technology vendor relationships
  • Anticipate future network needs and identify proactive solutions to satisfy needs
  • Provide leadership on complex technical issues
  • Effectively communicate relevant IT-related information company-wide
  • Oversee the management of outsourced help desk activities and resolve escalated issues
  • Oversee the planning and management of the company’s telephone system
  • Maintain and manage the inventory of all IT related assets and their corresponding licensing
  • Perform regular installations and updates for hardware and software systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve computer and other IT equipment problems and malfunctions
  • Provide end user application training as needed
  • Maintain a current understanding of industry and technology trends
  • Set up technology for outside offices and headquarter expansions

Technical Skills:

  • Understanding of IT infrastructure, application implementation and development, project management, and IT operations
  • Technical experience with Windows Server, Microsoft Active Directory, WINS, DNS, DHCP, Cisco VPN, Remote Desktop, and multiple offices in a WAN environment.
  • Hands-on experience implementing and troubleshooting Design software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, 3-D Studio MAX, etc.
  • Technical experience supporting Windows desktops/laptops and MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Technical experience supporting iOS and Android mobile devices

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a directly related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible relevant experience
  • Minimum of 2 years leading and managing direct and indirect teams
  • Exemplary communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Successful management of multiple high priority projects simultaneously
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fluid environment
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds using proper body mechanics and/or available equipment
