On Thursday, August 25, 2016,  Abel Design Group (ADG) was announced as a winner in the AIA Houston 2016 Design competition in the Interior Architecture category. The winning project, “Private Family Management Company,” was completed in 2015. The office is located in the renowned Philip Johnson’s Pennzoil Place, in Downtown Houston.

The design challenge posed by the project was threefold: create an elegant, yet understated workspace, provide a backdrop for a stunning art collection, and finally maximize the efficiency of a narrow lease space. “Fine Art is our passion, so design, high design in particular, is very important to us. While we required a functional office space, we desired a backdrop to display our fine art collection. Abel Design Group was able to deliver both exquisitely and thoughtfully. They not only listened to us, they worked with us in collaboration to produce a space that we consider a masterpiece,” stated L.P., Private Family Management Company, Vice President of Finance and Administration.
