On Thursday, April 21, 2022, Abel Design Group was announced as the 2022 Houston Business Journal Landmark Award Special Project winner for the Greentown Labs project.

Greentown Labs, North America’s largest climate-tech incubator, picked Houston for its second location outside of its headquarters in Somerville, Massachusetts. For its local facility, Greentown Labs repurposed a former Fiesta grocery store in Midtown, turning it into 40,000 square feet of prototyping lab, office and community space. Rice Management Co. owns the site and developed it as part of the 16-acre innovation district anchored by The Ion. Greentown Labs expects to eventually host around 50 startup companies, which likely would employ up to 300 workers collectively.
