717 Texas Lobby Renovation

Abel Design Group was selected as the Architect of Record for the lobby renovation of 717 Texas, a Class A downtown Houston office tower owned and managed by Hines. To keep pace with a competitive corporate office leasing market, the client wanted to take a hospitality-oriented approach to the lobby of the 33 story, 700,000 sq.ft. building. Streetsense was selected to redesign the lobby and worked in conjunction with Abel Design Group.

The collaboration resulted in a new lobby with dining options and features several lounge areas, a custom designed bronze feature wall, new reception area, and modernized elevators. The market concept transforms from coffee bar by day to happy hour venue in the evening with casual dining options. Included in the transformation is an outdoor patio area facing Texas Avenue. Project led by Abel Design Group Principal Ken R. Harry.
