Cognizant Accelerator

Cognizant Accelerator

When Cognizant Technology Solutions (Cognizant) acquired Boulder-area start up Quick Left, Cognizant Accelerator was formed. As a global tech giant, Cognizant has global office design standards, and as a national account for Abel Design Group, those standards were implemented for the design of two of the Cognizant California offices. With Cognizant Accelerator, the client tasked the Abel Design Group Denver team with a new design that incorporates local Boulder culture and maintains select elements of the Cognizant global office standards. To add to the complexity of the project, the design and the circulation of the office needed to accommodate Cognizant’s high security surrounding intellectual property.

The project included an open workstation area, meeting rooms, a game area, lockers, bike storage, touch-down huddle rooms, and collaboration spaces. The build-out also consisted of a divisible training room, phone rooms, and large break area/entertaining space.

The custom reception desk is made of beetle kill pine, a locally sourced wood, native to the Boulder area.

Highly graphic wall coverings inspired by cycling locations around the globe are featured in the huddle rooms.

The ability to gather together as one company, both locally and globally, was key to the design of the space. The break room is large enough to accommodate all employees and features a multipanel screen for global all-hands meetings.

A collection of bicycle racks were incorporated into the design to accommodate the active Boulder lifestyle.

An homage to the acquired company, one original design element of Quick Left was incorporated into the design as the phone room entrance.
